Design Office Supervisor

We are currently looking for a forward-thinking and confident individual who will be responsible for planning, organising and scheduling the work through the Design Office in order to meet required completion dates.

Leading a team of 5 people, you will work with the Engineering Manager to review available resources, projecting requirements against forecasted workload to ensure that commitments can be met. You will also look to improve the Engineering systems and processes to achieve repeatable, efficient, consistent designs that will optimise the manufacturing process and minimise cost.

Duties will encompass OEM Valves, FMC Valves and the Filters and Dryers section and will include but not be limited to:
• Assisting the Proposals Team in evaluation of Request for Quotations, (RFQ’s).
• Evaluating Customer requirements from data provided by the Sales team.
• Ensuring that designs are accurate and meet the requirements of the Customers Order.
• Producing 3D Models, Engineering Drawings and BOMs to allow manufacture of components.
• Checking of Drawings and B.O.M.’s.
• Interfacing with other Engineering team members, departments and Customers.
• Assisting with day-to-day queries with members of the Machine Shop, Assembly, Quality and After Market Departments.
• Representing the Design department at a variety of internal meetings.
• Assisting as necessary in recruitment activities and advising on any training requirements for individuals in the department.
• Administrative duties (i.e. holiday bookings, overtime) including liaising with HR & Accounts as necessary.

The desired Candidate will need to have the following:
• Mechanical Engineering to HNC/ONC level minimum.
• Experienced user of 3D CAD for design and drafting, (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
• Experience of using an Engineering Database to produce B.O.M.’s.
• Previous experience of supervising a team of employees would also be an advantage.
